Amtrak’s 30th Street Station was designed by the architectural firm of Graham, Anderson, Probst and White from Chicago. Construction began in 1927 and was completed in 1933.

As part of the exterior restoration, Kreilick Conservation, LLC was retained in 2016 by Mark1 Restoration to perform conservation treatment on the Station’s bronze doors. The project, which included numerous different types of doors (double, single, revolving with enclosure; interior/exterior), was completed in two phases over the next two years. Phase 1 included 20 leafs and 10 thresholds; phase 2 included 26 leafs and 6 thresholds.

The treatment performed was based on Design Phase mockups created by Kreilick Conservation in 2015. The doors were de-installed and transported to Kreilick’s conservation studio, where they were cleaned, refinished, patinated, lacquered, and re-glazed. Glass and hardware were cleaned and reinstalled if sound, and replaced as needed.
